Forum Rules - Please Read Before Posting!

The rules are pretty simple:

1. Be nice. No flaming, hate messages or any other offensive or derogatory remarks.

2. Respect other members' opinions. Disagreements are fine and expected and should be handled in a polite, courteous manner.

3. Respect the copyright of other users. Works posted to the boards for critique and/or other purposes are the sole owner of the respective member and may not be reproduced, reprinted, sold or distributed without express written permission from the author.

4. No pornographic, foul or otherwise offensive materials. Works of a graphical nature (IE: romantic love scenes) must be accompanied by the following warning:
WARNING: CONTAINS ADULT CONTENT

5. No Spam, MLMs, get-rich-quick schemes. Advertising is limited to links to members' homepages, book sales and/or reviews or other useful resources for writers.

Critique Group Guidelines:

This is a critique group for serious writers. Posts unrelated to writing are not allowed. Absolutely no spam, no hard swearing, references or posts of materials consisting of lewd or objectionable materials!

The solicitation of any member for personal gain, either on or off list is strictly forbidden. If you have a business you are looking to promote please do it somewhere else. There are places for that. This is not one of them.

Cut and paste. When replying to a message, refer only to the text you are quoting. Do not reply to the entire message. This is for all topics, including submissions and critiques.

Submissions are limited to ten (10) double-spaced, or five (5) single-spaced manuscript pages per post with a maximum of two (2) chapters a week.

Please do not submit more than you critique. There is a 2:1 critique:submission ratio. Which means for every one (1) submission, you are required to critique two (2) works.

Submissions must be posted to the proper category. (IE: Poetry is submitted to the Poetry board)

Submissions containing sexually explicit material(s) are expressly required to include the warning label, "Contains Sexually Explicit Material".

The following headers must be included in the subject line when posting submissions and critiques:

SUB: and the title of the work in the subject line. For example, SUB: The Title of the Work Goes Here (Required for all submissions)
CRIT: and the title of the work in the subject line. For example, CRIT: The Title of the Work Goes Here (Required for all critiques)

Plagiarism, whether it be of the works of other members or of any other source, is strictly forbidden and will result in immediate dismissal from the group.

Failure to observe these regulations will result in serious action. Users will be warned a maximum of three times for any and all offences in a three month period. If a fourth warning becomes necessary, the offending user will be permanently banned from both the Calgary Writers Community Forums and Critters Club.
